Hello friends, I’m Mayticks! I’ve been making art for as long as I can remember. For the last 10 years or so, I have had the immense privilege of making the art I wanted and needed when I was a little  queer teen. Art that represented the world I was in, and the one I want to be in; one where queer people are admired, adored, celebrated, and considered in all their forms. I am making art that finds joy in every body, beauty in every experience, and intensity in every gaze. I love depicting love and desire in every shape, inspired by people and stories in the world around me.

In my home studio in Ngunnawal Country, Australia, I paint in watercolour and gouache, draw digitally, I linoprint, I sketch, and I design pins, bookmarks, keychains, patches, and, occasionally, merch! I have designed endorsed merch for Mark Lawrence’s Book of the Ancestor series and Tamsyn Muir’s Locked Tomb series, and official Licensed merch for Martha Wells’ Murderbot Diaries.

I have been lucky enough to be a part of a number of Nova & Mali’s wonderful group projects (including Tarot decks and art books), as well as in some excellent Dames projects! I was also chosen to design an enormous 10m x 2m paint-by-numbers mural for the Melbourne Hellenic Museum as part of their Pride celebrations a few years back. Most recently, I spent a year working on Embodied; a book of watercolour portraits accompanied by each person’s own words about their experience as a queer person moving their body through the world. It’s available now!

I design everything myself, and make as much as I can in my home studio, print my books and art through the same printing house as I have always used (20kms from my house), and manufacture my pins and merch through the same business in Naarm I’ve used since my first pin. I try to produce everything I sell, and purchase every supply I can, through Australian businesses. I also recycle loads of packaging, and package as much as possible in recyclable and biodegradable materials, and I *always* put my recycling bin out full ;)

If you’ve been around a while, thank you for all your support. If you’re new here, welcome, and I hope you find something in my work that the baby you wished for and the bigger you needs.
